PAGE LAYOUT
Top toolbar (above the chart)
- Status line: row count, serial number, and the current data time window.
- Reload countdown: shows seconds until the next automatic data refresh when live refresh is active. If the viewed data ends more than 24 hours ago, the countdown shows "Reload paused (data end over 24h ago)".
Main chart (left)
- Time runs vertically (newer rows toward the bottom when pan is at the bottom).
- Numeric traces run horizontally as colored lines scaled to each trace's minimum and maximum value.
- Depth fields draw as short ticks and numeric labels on the left margin.
- Flag fields (OnBottomFlag, PumpsOnFlag) draw as small ticks when active.
- Move the mouse over the chart to see a detailed readout in the toolbar.
Settings panel (right)
- Serial selection, help, PDF export, realtime data, zoom/pan controls, refresh timer, day navigation, and trace checkboxes.
SERIAL NUMBER
Select the instrument serial number from the drop-down list at the top of the Settings panel. All chart data, saved settings, and exports use this serial.
Changing the serial reloads that unit's chart settings and data window.
GAS CHART HELP
Opens this help document in a new browser tab.
SAVE PDF TO FILES
Creates a PDF snapshot of the current chart view and saves it on the server for the selected serial. The PDF includes the chart image and a text summary of the current view settings.
After a successful save, use the Files page (main menu) for that serial to view or download the PDF.
A serial number must be selected before saving.
REALTIME DATA
Opens a live realtime instrument data window for the selected serial number.
Use it to monitor current values while reviewing the gas chart.
ZOOM AND PAN (Z AND P SLIDERS)
Z zoom
Controls how many data rows are visible at once. Moving the slider toward the top zooms in (fewer rows, more detail). Moving it toward the bottom zooms out (more rows, wider time span).
P pan
Scrolls up and down through the loaded data. Bottom of the slider shows the newest rows in the current window; top shows older rows.
Mouse wheel on the chart
- Wheel alone: pan (move up/down through time).
- Shift + wheel: zoom in and out.
When you adjust Z manually, any selected inches-per-hour preset is cleared.
INCHES PER HOUR PRESETS (1"/hr, 2"/hr, 4"/hr)
These three options set the vertical scale so that approximately 1, 2, or 4 inches of chart height represent one hour of logged data, based on the average row rate in the current data.
Only one preset can be active at a time. Dragging the Z slider clears the preset selection.
REFRESH TIMER
Enter the number of seconds (15 to 600) between automatic data reloads.
When the chart is viewing live data (window end at the newest database time), reloads append new rows without resetting your pan position.
When viewing older historical windows, periodic refresh is paused automatically if the data end is more than 24 hours in the past.
DAY NAVIGATION
Load Previous Day
Shifts the data window backward by one day (24 hours) and reloads chart data.
Load Next Day
Shifts the data window forward by one day. Disabled when already at the newest available data.
Show Now
Returns to the live/newest data window, sets pan to the bottom (newest rows), and reloads data.
If you leave the page idle for 20 minutes with no mouse, keyboard, or control activity, Show Now runs automatically so the chart follows live data again.
CHART ITEMS (TRACE CHECKBOXES)
Each checkbox turns a data field on or off in the chart.
Default on: HoleDepth and GasUnits.
Depth fields (HoleDepth, TimeLagDepth, StrokeLagDepth, BitDepth)
Display as depth ticks on the left edge of the chart, not as full-width trace lines. At least one depth field must remain checked; if you uncheck all depth fields, HoleDepth is turned back on automatically.
Flag fields (OnBottomFlag, PumpsOnFlag)
Display as short ticks when:
OnBottomFlag - value is 0 (off bottom) PumpsOnFlag - value is 1 (pumps on)
Other numeric fields
Display as colored horizontal trace lines across the chart area.
Checkbox label colors match each trace color. Hidden internal fields (such as SerNo, RSSI, and error counters) are not shown in the list.
TRACE OPTIONS (RIGHT-CLICK A CHECKBOX)
Right-click any field name in the Chart Items list to open Trace options.
For numeric trace fields you can set:
- Auto range - scale automatically from visible data (default).
- Minimum / Maximum - fixed scale when Auto range is off.
- Color - trace and label color.
For depth and flag fields, only color can be changed (no min/max range).
Click OK to apply, Cancel or Escape to close without saving.
Settings are saved automatically for the current serial.
CHART INTERACTIONS
Hover
Move the mouse over the chart to see timestamp, depth, GasUnits, and values for all currently checked fields at that row.
Click on the CGVolts trace
When CGVolts is checked and you click near its trace line at a row, the page opens the Chromatograph view for that packet number (same serial).
The click target is widened slightly so CGVolts is easier to select on touchpads and smaller screens.
DATA WINDOW
The chart loads a rolling time window of telemetry (typically about 48 hours) ending at the newest data or at the day you navigated to. The status line shows the window start and end timestamps and total row count.
Data is merged from RWPacketData and RWPersistent tables and sorted by time.
SETTINGS PERSISTENCE
Your zoom, pan, refresh interval, checked fields, trace colors, and range settings are saved per serial number on the server (and mirrored in browser local storage). Changes are saved shortly after you adjust a control.
TIPS
- Use 1"/hr or 2"/hr presets for consistent paper-style scaling when reviewing gas trends over several hours.
- Check several gas components (C1_GU, C2_GU, etc.) together to compare shapes.
- Use Load Previous Day to review earlier drilling without losing your trace color and range preferences.
- Save PDF to Files before a shift change to archive the current view.
